Polished & Paid is a year-round youth workforce development and mental wellness program for young women ages 13–15 in Columbus, Ohio. We invest in the whole person — mentally, emotionally, professionally, and socially — because when a young woman knows who she is, understands her worth, and has real skills in her hands, there is no limit to what she can build.
This is not a babysitting program. This is not just another after-school activity. Polished & Paid is a structured, clinically grounded experience that gives girls the tools to regulate their emotions, build healthy relationships, make smart financial decisions, understand their bodies, and walk into adulthood with confidence and a plan.
We meet girls where they are — during the school year and through the summer — because growth does not take a season off.
Young women ages 13–15 in the Columbus metropolitan area — especially girls who have not always had access to structured mentorship, career exposure, or safe spaces to ask the questions nobody else is answering. Foundation of Becoming also offers a separate, tailored program for young women ages 16–18 through our workforce development partnerships. Contact us to learn more.

Three pillars. One whole person. Every session, every season, every girl.
We start from the inside out. Every girl who walks through our doors deserves support for her mental and emotional health — not as an afterthought, but as the foundation of everything else. Through therapeutic programming, evidence-based emotional regulation curriculum, and peer connection, we help young women develop the internal tools they carry for the rest of their lives: coping skills, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and the ability to navigate hard moments without losing themselves.
You cannot build a future on a foundation you have never examined. Our Identity programming helps young women discover their values, claim their strengths, set goals that are actually theirs, and develop the self-awareness to lead — in their homes, their schools, and their communities. We ask hard questions. We hold honest conversations. We create the space for girls to become, on purpose.
Knowledge without opportunity is just potential. We pair every girl with real, hands-on industry training in the beauty sector alongside financial literacy, professional communication, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness skills. Girls leave our program with tangible skills, professional exposure, and a clearer vision of their economic future.
During the school year, girls meet every Monday and Wednesday for focused, consistent programming that builds skills and community without overwhelming busy schedules.
During the summer, programming expands to a full Monday through Friday schedule — a deeper immersive experience with extended time in every area of the program.
Every session begins with a structured mental health check-in. Girls build emotional vocabulary, practice coping skills, and develop the self-awareness that forms the foundation of everything else. Our 12-week Emotional & Behavioral Regulation (EBR) curriculum is evidence-based, teen-centered, and built for real girls having real conversations — not worksheets.
Structured individual and group therapeutic support is built into every session, facilitated by qualified mental health professionals. We take the mental health needs of our girls seriously — not as a checkbox, but as a core program commitment.
Girls take ownership of real program events — planning, coordinating, presenting, and leading. This is leadership development in practice, not in theory.
From money and budgeting to body literacy, healthy relationships, home management, healthcare, and community identity — five rotating themes give girls consistent, deepening exposure to the skills they need most to navigate adulthood with confidence.
A marketable, in-demand skill you own. Girls rotate through four areas of professional cosmetology, building hands-on experience and a foundation for licensure, employment, or entrepreneurship.
For girls who choose this path, the program becomes a deep dive into what it means to build something from the ground up — with the entrepreneurial mindset and practical skills to create their own economic opportunities.
At the core of Polished & Paid is a clinically grounded, teen-centered curriculum built for how young women actually learn — through conversation, honesty, peer connection, and real experiences. Staff model vulnerability first. Peer connection is the mechanism through which healing happens.
Age-differentiated, LGBTQ+ inclusive, shame-free, and medically accurate. Every girl deserves honest, accurate information delivered with dignity.
Personal self-care, professional grooming standards, and the connection between how we care for ourselves and how we show up in the world.
Every session begins here — because girls cannot learn, grow, or build anything sustainable if their emotional needs are not met first.
Girls cannot learn, grow, or build anything sustainable if their emotional needs are not met first. We put mental wellness at the center of every single session.
Our curriculum is built around the questions girls are actually asking — about their bodies, their relationships, their money, their futures, and themselves. No topic is too hard. No question is too embarrassing.
Beauty is a billion-dollar industry. Entrepreneurship is a pathway to generational wealth. Financial literacy is a survival skill. We give girls all three — not as inspiration, but as practical, transferable knowledge.
Growth does not pause for the school year. Our year-round model means girls have a consistent community, consistent support, and consistent access to the skills and programming they need — no matter the season.
Not just her grades. Not just her behavior. Not just her potential. The whole person — carrying everything she carries — who shows up and chooses to invest in herself. We honor that every single time.
Therapeutic programming is not an add-on — it is built into the structure of every session, facilitated by qualified mental health professionals who understand adolescent development.
We accept motivated young women ages 13–15 who are ready to invest in their mental health, their skills, and their futures. No prior experience needed — just the willingness to show up.
